Jaguar Land Rover India’s MD Rohit Suri to Retire After 14 Years of Success

The advent of Jaguar Land Rover India under the Tata Group in the late 2000s changed the fortunes of the British car group Jaguar Land Rover. Both the brands’ Jaguar and Land Rover were struggling prior to coming under the Tata Group’s leadership. But since then, the story has been no less than a fairy tale.

Now, a new important development regarding leadership at JLR India has surfaced. JLR India has announced that the company’s current President & MD, Rohit Suri will be retiring from the company at the end of this financial year. Suri joined the Tata Group with Tata Motors as Head of Premier Car Division and led the launch of Jaguar and Land Rover in India in 2009. He was then appointed as the President & MD of JLR India in 2018. It was under his leadership that the company was able to establish itself as a market leader in the premium car segment.

Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India, will be retiring from his position on March 31, 2023, the company announced on Thursday. His successor will be announced later, the company said.

Commenting on his retirement, Rohit Suri said, “My time at Jaguar Land Rover has been filled with some of the most memorable and exciting challenges, as me and my team worked passionately to establish the two icons as the most sought-after and aspirational brands in India”. He also thanked the senior group leadership and the team for believing in him and conveyed his best wishes to the JLR family for their future endeavors.”

Martin Limpert, Regional Director, Overseas, Jaguar Land Rover said, “I want to thank Rohit for his leadership and outstanding contribution to the business over the last 14 years. He led from the front and played a key role in establishing Jaguar Land Rover in India with strong focus on customer centricity and financial and brand strength”.

In the 14 years that he has been associated with JLR, Rohit Suri has been instrumental in launching many products in the country. He has also been instrumental in leading the company towards a customer-centric approach. His leadership has enabled the company to achieve financial and brand strength.

Rohit Suri’s retirement marks the end of an era for JLR India. Although his successor has not yet been announced, the company has said that the announcement will be made in due course. We wish Rohit Suri all the best for his future endeavors.
