Tinder has introduced Tinder U in India, an exclusive in-app feature designed to help college students connect with peers on campus. By using the ‘Like’ or ‘Super Like’ feature, students can match effortlessly, making it easier to turn campus crushes into real-life connections.

Eligibility & Access

Tinder U is exclusively available to university and college students across India. To access the feature, students must register using a valid college email address ending in .edu.in, .ac.in, or .in. Once verified, users can enhance their profiles by adding details about their college, interests, and campus activities to discover and connect with like-minded peers.

According to a OnePoll survey, 57% of young adults in India (ages 18-25) have built meaningful relationships through dating apps. Tinder U is designed to support these connections by making it easier for students to engage with fellow students. The survey also revealed that 67% of respondents have dated someone they met online, 55% have formed friendships through dating apps, and 45% consider dating apps the most common way to meet new people—ahead of workplaces and educational institutions, which each stood at 34%.

Enhanced Profile Features

Students using Tinder U can include their college details and highlight their involvement in clubs, societies, and campus activities, making it easier to match with those who share similar interests. The survey further revealed that 39% of Tinder users find shared interests the most attractive aspect of a profile, 35% prefer starting conversations around common hobbies, and 54% would rather discuss shared interests during interactions. Tinder U integrates these insights, ensuring smoother, more engaging conversations.

A Platform for Genuine Connections

“University life is all about new experiences. With Tinder U as your go-to companion—whether for finding a study partner, a concert buddy, or something more meaningful—you can truly thrive,” says Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder India. She adds that the platform provides Gen Z with a safe, inclusive space where connections happen as naturally as meeting someone in a library or a campus corridor.

How to Enroll in Tinder U

Students can apply for Tinder U by navigating to the Profile section in the Tinder app and adding their college information under ‘Edit Info.’ After entering and verifying their student email address, they will be enrolled in Tinder U. Additionally, iOS users can customize their app icon to the Tinder U version via the ‘App Icons’ section in Settings or after completing the onboarding process.

Availability

Tinder U is now live across university and college campuses in India, making it easier for students to meet, match, and connect in a safe and engaging environment.

Conclusion

Tinder U’s launch in India brings a fresh, dynamic way for college students to connect, fostering meaningful relationships, friendships, and campus interactions. By leveraging shared interests and an inclusive platform, Tinder U enhances the student experience, making it easier to meet like-minded peers in a safe and engaging digital space.
