Star Sports launches its promo for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and it came out to be an absolute milestone for the recognition and popularity of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team among people. Created and conceptualized by the in-house team of Disney Star, the campaign aims to highlight the identity and recognition of the India Women’s team, playing a vital role in increasing the dynamics and graph of cricket in the country through their exceptional skills and performance in cricket.

The ad film shows a lady asking for the “Sharma wali jersey” from the shopkeeper who gives the Jersey of Rohit Sharma (captain of the Men’s Indian cricket team). When the lady asks not this Sharma, the shopkeeper laughs and taunts her that she doesn’t know about cricket much. Then the lady shows the photo of the all-rounder in the Indian Women’s Cricket Team Deepti Sharma and leaves shopkeepers stunned with one line “Yeh Bhi India ki player hai” (She’s also India’s player).

Indian Women’s cricket team will be facing their biggest challenge yet in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The goal for the team is to win an ICC trophy for the first time, which would be a historic achievement and change the narrative of women’s cricket in India from “his story” to “her story.” To motivate our Women’s cricket team, Star sports India posted a video about the journey of left-handed batsman Yastika Bhatia.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Sanjog Gupta, Head – Sports, Disney Star said, “We are deeply committed to growing fandom for women’s Cricket and are excited to host the ICC T20 World Cup in South Africa on the Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar. The last T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020 saw the women in blue missing out on the title in an epic finale. As Team India embarks on this journey towards world glory, we hope that cricket fans across the country and the world will support their endeavor to rewrite history as ‘Herstory’. The growing recognition and appeal of the women in blue have a transformational capacity that transcends sport with the potential to inspire millions of girls (and boys). And we believe this event will provide a strong impetus in elevating that chorus of support for Harmanpreet and her team”.

The India Women’s team is entering the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 as a formidable force, ready to take on tough competition in the group stages from teams such as England, Ireland, Pakistan, and West Indies. In the previous edition of the tournament, India had a successful campaign reaching the final, but unfortunately falling short of Australia. With a mix of both experienced and young players, the team is determined to make history by winning their first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Stay tuned for the #ICCWomensT20WorldCup, starting Feb 10, only on Star Sports & Disney+Hotstar.
